I am Tushar Bhaskarwar sharing experience from industrial and college level about instrumentation branch.

Various department from instrumentation are give below...

1) Process instrumentation and automation (Automation companies)

  • PLC
  • DCS
  • SCADA
  • Industrial protocals (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, PROFIBUS, MODBUS, etc)
  • Some important terms used in industry


2) Instrumentation and control system (Design engineering) [EPC companies]

  • Piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID)
  • Specification sheets
  • Data sheets and hookup drawing
  • Valves information (Types of valves, valve selection and sizing, Cavitation, flashing, noising calculation, actuator basics) 

3) Field Instrumentation [Oil and gas companies, power plants engineering]

  • Field instrumentation commissioning
  • Erection
  • Sensors and transducers
  • Controllers (P, I, D and PID)
  • Different types of processes in industry (Like feedback , feedforward, cascade, ratio, split range etc...)

5) Mechatronics Department

          This is a branch of instrumentation deals with control and automation (Mechanical + Instrumentation).
